What if there is a way to communicate with the heavens?

What if the way involved a mermaid?

What if it worked?

Well, it did.

This was what happened in the movie I just watched on Hallmark and it’s probably one the most miraculous and beautiful law of attraction stories I’ve ever heard. And no it’s not just a story, it’s based on a true story.

It’s truly unbelievable.

The movie was a heartwarming story that revolved around a 5-year-old girl called Desiree who was too young to understand that she could never contact her father again. A year had passed since her father’s death and since then she’s been referring to herself by the third-person, a sign that she has not come to terms with it.

One day she gets an idea to send a letter to Heaven so that her father can remember her. Her mother although reluctant went along with the idea. It would allow Desiree to pen down her feelings and hopefully let go.

“Dear Daddy,

Desi and Desi’s Grandma wrote this letter so that the angel will bring it to heaven. Desi hopes Desi’s Daddy is happy there in heaven because that will make Desi happy too. Desi wrote this letter to let Desi’s daddy know that Desi’s birthday is coming this January. Desi hopes that daddy won’t forget Desi’s Birthday and send Desi a present.

While at the fair, Desiree bought a Helium balloon with a picture of a Mermaid on it (see above) from a man who told her that any wish that was attached to the balloon and sent off into the sky would come true.

Desiree did that and 4000 miles away, a hunter found it stuck onto a tree. He read the letter and discussed about replying to it with his wife. Not wanting to give Desiree false hopes, his wife writes a beautiful letter that sounded something like this:

“Dear Desiree,

My husband has found your letter while duck-hunting last week. We’ve read your letter and we are touched by it. I’m sure your daddy has read the letter and sent it to us so that we could reply on his behalf - to let you know that he is doing well there and he didn’t forget you.

We believe the balloon has flown away so far and finally landed here for a reason. We live in a community called Mermaid and we also have a daughter about your age who celebrated her birthday in January too.

How was your birthday? Your daddy wanted to give something to you but he can’t because they don’t have stores in Heaven. Thus he sent us to go shopping on his behalf. Here we’ve enclosed a little present for you, a Mermaid storybook. We hope you’ll like it.

That letter instantaneously stopped Desiree from referring to herself by the third-person, a sign that she has moved on. =)

The interesting part of the story here was that Desiree knew her father would reply (she waited for the mail-man to come everyday) and she did. I believe she did get what she wanted even though it came from a different source.

Do you think it’s a coincidence that Mr MacKinon found the balloon by the Mermaid River and that he lives in a town called Mermaid?

Don’t you think that it reached him because he also had a daughter who was having her birthday in the same month as Desiree? (and thus resonate with him more)
