Power Of The Subconscious Mind

Photobucket

I looked at her and laughed! She had labeled the red heart-shaped box, “Cure for STM: Take One Daily” because she knows I need it.

That was almost two years ago, and until today I still have what I call STM - Short Term Memory Loss. I don’t know how or when it started but what I do know for sure is that my memory has gotten worse over the years - probably due to my belief that I have STM when I have no such medical certification whatsoever.

Recently, I got an E-mail from a reader asking me how she can control her subconscious mind, which as you can see from the above story is a problem of mine too. So I got my copy of “The Power of Your Subconscious Mind” by Dr. Joseph Murphy and started digging. Here’s what I found and I think you can benefit greatly from it.

The Definitions

The Conscious Mind: Takes in information about the objective world through the five senses by observing, learning from experiences and education.

The Subconscious Mind: Extremely suggestible and accepts everything it gets as true. It does not matter if it’s a fact or not, the subconscious mind will make it true.

Dr. Joseph gives a very good picture that I got instantly. Basically, the Conscious Mind is like the gatekeeper to your soul.

Since your Subconscious Mind is extremely suggestible and thus vulnerable, your Conscious Mind reasons out whatever information is presented to us before deciding to relay it to the Subconscious Mind or not. (in case it is false information)

The Proof

I think we both know the power it gives someone if the person is able to distract the gatekeeper (Conscious Mind) and sneak his way into the Subconscious Mind and thus have complete control over the person.

If you don’t know what I’m talking about, you can watch the Derren Brown video where he controlled a woman’s muscles just by suggesting words into her subconscious mind. It’s a very controversial video, so if you don’t want to watch it, don’t click here.

The Question

I’m just starting to realize the power of our subconscious mind and I was wondering if you have any advice that would be helpful on my journey to self-discovery. I also have a question:

“Your subjective (subconscious) mind .. has the capacity of clairvoyance and clairaudience: It can … leave your body, travel to distant lands, and bring back information that is often of the most exact and truthful character. Through your subjective mind you can read the thoughts of others, read the contents of sealed envelopes, or intuit the information on a computer disk without using a disk drive.”

Do you know how can I evoke this power? I think it’s kind of cool, to be honest! ;)

  3. What an awesome video demonstrating how a conscious mind can impress other minds. They (advertisers, politicians, television, etc.) are doing it to us all the time. There just is no arguement about it that I can see.

Now, “Not only . . . but it can direct the subconscious mind.” Directing the subconscious mind is a personal thing; something we do to ourselves. When you make a conscious choice to feel happy, glad, joyful, whatever, the subconscious goes to work to make the body manufacture and release the hormones, etc., that cause you to feel what you chose. That’s why we must create a very Clear Mental Image of that which we desire so the subconscious mind can get busy bringing it to us.
