Tyler Dikman Took 2 Years - So Will I!
By SaiF on Feb 12, 2008 in Success Stories
GASP!
That’s all I can say - WAIT! I didn’t say anything did I?
Tyler Dikman’s living the life I’m dreaming of.
Tyler Dikman’s making millions of dollars as CEO CoolTronics.com.
Tyler Dikman’s made his first million at 17!
SEVEN-TEEN!
He started the company when he was 15 (and he’s quoted saying
he wished he had started it at 13) and made it BIG when he was 17.
2 years is all it takes for Tyler Dikman.
2 years is all I need.
Thank you for showing me that it’s DEFINITELY POSSIBLE, dude!
This is like breaking the 4-minute-mile for me.
Read on for an in-depth review from my No.1 Man and something a little extra for you:
1) Go the extra mile!
At age 5, Tyler was able to sell his lemonade at $20 a pop. (I still
don’t believe this!)
How did he do that?
He did what other great lemonade stand holder would do, and then
he did 1% more.
You see my friend, the difference between the top guy and the second
guy is very little.
But as Seth Godin talked about in “The Dip”, being the top guy MATTERS!
Why?
Let me quote for you what I wrote in The Dip Book Review:
In August 06, the movie Invincible ranked #1 in the box
office rankings while Taladega Nights came in second.Invincible made $17 m while taledega nights made $8m with the
rest of the movies making about $7m and lesserThat shows you that being the best can reap you about 2 to 4
times more rewards than the second best.
2 TO 4 TIMES MORE REWARDS
Period.
Tyler said that all it took was the extra effort to differentiate himself.
He “pimped up” his stand to attract customers and that he used a cash
register to look professional.
He marketed his business by setting up signs as far as 5 km away.
Just imagine that.
5 KILOMETRES!
If that’s not going the extra mile, I don’t know what is.
And if my estimation is right, 5km is approximately 3 miles ;)
1)Under promise and over-deliver
I’ve got two words for you.
Use VALUE.
I’ve just finished reading Science of Getting Rich yesterday, and Wattles
emphasized on this point.
You cannot give everyone more in cash market value than you
take from him, but you can give him more in use value than the
cash value of the thing you take from him.Give everyone more in use value than you take from him in
cash value. Then you are adding to the life of the world by every
business transaction.
To be rich, you have to give someone more real value or things that are of worth
than the money value.
Let me emphasize that:
Use Value > Money Value = RICH
3) Get a mentor.
We both know the power of mentoring so I won’t touch on that.
What is interesting though is that he was saying something
to the effect of taking genuine interest in an established person’s
business because that person most probably has a son who doesn’t
appreciate what he does.
I read about this concept in John Mawell’s “A Person of Influence”.
People want to be appreciated.
Put them on a pedestal, appreciate what they do and they’ll be more
than happy to assist you in any way they can - be it imparting
knowledge, connecting the T’s and dotting the I’s for you or
helping you widen your network.
4) Ideas don’t make you money, execution does
Wallace especially emphasized on this:
“So that he may receive what he wants when it comes, a person must
act NOW upon the people and things in his present environment.”
