How The Japanese Became #1 At Almost Everything

This is the first time I’ve seen Zig Ziglar in action.

He’s rather entertaining and thought-provoking.

In this clip, he talks about the four goals that
the Japanese met time and again - the reason why
they’re now #1 at almost everything in the world.

Here’s the formula:

“If I ask you what is 3 X 5, everyone of you
in the room can tell me what the answer is.. because you know
the formula…”

Let’s recap the formula.

But before I do, let me quote this simple but powerful thought…

“If I choose to eat too much today, I have chose
to weigh too much tomorrow..”

You can choose to set goals n realise ur potential or you can
choose not to and remain where you are - falling behind everybody.

Zig Ziglar’s formula for Goal-Setting:

1) Write it down

2) Put a date to it

3) List down the obstacles you might have to overcome

4) List down the groups or people you need to work with in order
to make this a reality

5) Work out a plan of action

6) What’s In It For Me? - WHY AM I DOING THIS AT ALL?!

Now, I don’t really believe in Step 5 because I choose to let
go and take inspired action.

But I believe Step 6 is a missing step in my formula.

I remember Anthony Robbins saying quite vividly:

“If you have a strong enough why, you can endure
any how”

Now that you have the formula, you too can also figure it out.

In my experiences so far, sometimes it may feel like the materialisation
of some goals might come rather easily but some WILL BE DIFFICULT.

In those times, I endure doing, and doing, and doing something
until I hit a goal and remember that this is something that I’ve
never done before and so, it’s going to take some time.

I’d like to share with you a quote that pulls me through this:

“Aptitude is really a function of time, rather than some
inborn quality. One support for this belief can be found in
the grade norms for standardized achievement tests. These norms
demonstrate that that scores achieved by the top students at
one grade level are achieved by the majority of students at a
later grade level.”

- Dr. Wayne Dyer, Your Erroneous Zones Pg. 40

In the book, Dr. Dyer also pointed out an article by John
Carroll which appeared in Teachers College Record

“Aptitude is the amount of time required by the learner to
attain mastery of a learning task. Implicit in this formulation
is the assumption that, given enough time, all students can
conceivably attain mastery of a learning task.”

- A Model for School Learning

So my friend, there’s a formula to everything.

There’s a formula to getting an A in the Exams.

There’s a formula to make a relationships work.

There’s a formula to success.

The thing to remember is to just keep sticking to your goals,
and adjust your strategy to get the right formula for you.

For with the right formula, it’ll be just like 3 X 5 ;)

important than the HOW - leave that to the Universe. Keep
chasing a goal using the formula, and adjust it until you’ve
found the right one for you.
